Are these ads getting old? I’m not sure what your thoughts are on these ads, but it appears they can’t come up with anything new. In an ad I saw last night PC takes a time machine into the future 2050. The sad part of all of this is “it’s the same commercial” in 2050, Hi I’m a Mac, and I’m a PC. Are you telling me we have to watch these ads for another 41 years?
I love working on Windows platform. I would chuckle at the apple ads, but now they are just old.
I think everyone realizes that Windows is 90+ percent of the computer market. Apple does not take up the last 10%. So when they say “no viruses on a Mac”, what they are really saying is so few people use a Mac that no one takes the time to try to hack into a Mac. My point is if I’m a hungry killer whale, I would go after a large group of seals instead of a little tiny fish.
I hope we don’t have to watch “I’m a Mac” ads for the next 41 years.

One final thought on the “I’m a Mac” ad. If Apple was thinking or being creative, when PC travels to the future there would have been only one person. Hi I’m a Mac. I don’t know who was paid to create that ad, but they should be fired. My guess is they were so happy thinking they would be writing these ads for the next 41 years, they didn’t care about the bad image they put on poor little Mac. Still after 41 years in the same place, wishing it was a PC.

I think I understand the point of your post, which is essentially a critique of Apple’s advertising campaign with the addition of declarative statements about your choice in computer platform, and the choice by your company in the CRM solution you market and represent. However, is this then by extension a resolution to not incorporate the engagement of a Mac user audience by your firm? Would it not be a business advantage to be platform agnostic, and instead focus on the solution from the user perspective to the technology platform on which it is deployed? Just curious.
John – Correct I believe the ad agency really blew it. 41 year went by and nothing changed. They could have painted the picture anyway they wanted, but they left it the same. Too bad.
As for my company, yes we do leave Mac users hanging out to dry. Sorry. As I mentioned in original post, I’m more of a killer whale, I’m going after the huge group of seals instead of a small fish. I understand there are some people that like Mac’s. We have one in our office, but it has VMWare so he can run Windows also. Maybe Mac should allow their OS to run in other vendor’s computers! Would it not be a business advantage for Apple to extend their OS to all hardware manufactures?

There will always be a few users that want to use a Mac. There will always be users that want to use Windows. Until something better comes out…
